What Is Ophthalmology Procedure?

Ophthalmology is a kind of medicine which deals with the diseases and surgery of the visual pathways that include eye, brain and surrounding areas of eye, such as the lacrimal system and eyelids. Glaucoma

This treatment is done on the common eye condition which usually (but not always) has fluid force within the eyes rises because of slowed fluid drainage from the eye. If unprocessed, it may harm the optic nerve and other parts of the eye, causing the loss of vision or even blindness. In fact, there are no symptoms in the premature stage of glaucoma. The term glaucoma is frequently called "the sneak thief of sight."

Since the treatment of glaucoma may include medication, surgery or laser surgery and eye drops or pills alone can regularly control glaucoma, although they cannot heal it. On the other hand, some drugs are designed to lessen pressure by slowing the flow of fluid into the eye, while others help to get better fluid drainage.

Cataract

Generally cataract is a clouding or opacity of the lens in the eyes that can lead to a steady loss of vision. Especially for old aged people, it is one of the main causes of blindness across the world. Therefore a cataract can crop up in both eyes but it cannot increase from one eye to another eye.

Ptosis

The term ptosis is used for flabby of the upper eyelids. In case of gentle Ptosis, the eye has a disagreeable form but its function will be normal as it is. While, in severe Ptosis the sagging upper lid wraps the pupil and visual axis of the eye; so the patient has to lift his/her chin to see correctly. And there is no home treatment for sagging eyelids, but surgery can sometimes help in such cases.

Squint
