The Great Indian Culture & Heritage Tour

With a civilization that goes beyond five millenniums, India is the unsurpassed place for one to explore heritage. Whether it is magnificent palaces, impregnable forts, marvelous temples or great mausoleums, India has them all. In India, you may find a whole city that is breathing history or full of historical monuments, such as Delhi, Agra and Varanasi or a state that is abundant with great architecturally beautiful forts, for example Rajasthan.

You will find in this great country some of the most magnificent architectural beauties. Taj Mahal is such example, which is the visualization of a beautiful poem in marble or is the manifestation of pure love frozen in stone. Or, you have Khajuraho temples on the walls of which are depicted the expressions of tantrik mysticism, which regards sex as a significant part of human development and the realization of the absolute.

Here is a brief list of important heritage places of great historical and cultural significance.

Delhi: It is a city of history and historical monuments. Archaeological Survey of India has listed over 1300 monuments in and around Delhi. Apart from that, the architectural attractions of the modern era such as the Rashtrapati Bhavan and the Parliament building are also worth seeing.

Agra: Agra is known as the city of Taj and Agra Fort in which Shahjahan was kept as a prisoner after he had constructed the Taj, the temple of love.

Bharatpur: Bharatpur was founded by Maharaja Suraj Mal in 1733 AD, Bharatpur is known for housing the famous Bharatpur bird sanctuary. Lohagarh fort, which falls within the vicinity of national park and Deeg Palace are great places to visit.

Bikaner: Bikaner is known as the camel city of Rajasthan. It is a medieval fortified city, which enhances the beauty of the landscape.

Jaipur: Jaipur is known as the Pink city of Rajasthan and it is also the capital of Rajasthan having many heritage monuments like Hawa Mahal and Amber Fort. It is aptly called the tourist paradise.

Jaisalmer: Jaisalmer is in fact a golden beauty, popular for sand dunes, which are quite a rage amongst the tourists. This is one city, one must see at least once in a lifetime.

Udaipur: Udaipur is the City of Palaces, a fascinating blend of culture, heritage and history. The city of lake is proud to be the most romantic place in the country

Khajuraho: The city is quite famous for its temple architecture and exquisite sculptures.

Fatehpur Sikri: It is near Agra and the ancient Capital of Mughal dynasty in India. The fort was constructed under the aegis of Emperor Akbar.

Aurangabad: Aurangabad is the city of rock caves and Mughal monuments.

Ajanta - Ellora: These are ancient rock temples and caves with some of the earliest paintings. They are protected as a UNESCO World heritage site.

Mysore: The seat of Mysore Maharajas. Famous for Mysore Palace, Chamundi temple and Dussra Procession.
